Desert Beauty

Desert Beauty
Originally uploaded by Buckeye
This card was a two day project, starting on Friday. I was looking at the Limited Supply Challenge #201 on Splitcoast, and it was a challenge to use our favorite things.

I immediately decided that I wanted to ink up a Terry Medaris image because southwestern images are definitely what brought me to stamping in the first place (in late 2002, I was on a quest to find a cactus stamp to stamp on the envelopes of my store bought Christmas cards, to celebrate the Buckeye's upcoming National Championship game)....which led to taking a 101 rubber stamping class at my then local stamp company....and, now six years later, here I am addicted to the hobby.

Anyway, as I was working/struggling to get the coloring of this image right, I kept thinking back to that national championship game (the best day of my life). It has been six years ago, yesterday. Where has time gone? My heart right now is in the desert again, as the Buckeyes square off against Texas tomorrow.

This card took forever to color and layout, but I'm quite pleased and shocked by the final product. Usually, my cards are brightly colored and vivid, yet this one turned out soft and elegant...special if you will. Just like that game/memory six years ago.

The challenge was to use our favorite stamp company, which here is Terry Medaris. To use our favorite colors of paper/ink, which here is pink, green and black. The image is stamped with Stazon black onto Strathmore Bristol smooth. To use our favorite embellishments, which is here ribbon and Cuttlebug. And, to use our favorite technique, which is alway coloring for me., here using Prismacolor pencils...No Gamsol!

Thanks for visiting my blog...I never really say it, but I do appreciate it very much.

And, Go Buckeye!!! Beat Texas!!! I'm not at the game this time, I have to work. That job thing just gets in the way with these into January games!

Oh. My. Gosh. This is freakin' fantastic!! I love the soft colors on this. I'm like you, bright and bold, but this is wonderful. Do more!

I just tried to get to Terry's site to buy some stamps but his website doesn't load. Do you have a local distributor for his stamps?

Keep on coloring!
