Ohio ATC

Ohio ATC

I made 52 of these Ohio ATCs for a swap over on SCS. I was so excited to represent the great state of Ohio, though this ATC was all I could come up with. I am so layout challenged, that it is becoming quite sad. I knew I wanted to use this image of a Buckeye, and that I did not want to make it with a sports theme. So, I stamped the Buckeye image in the upper left hand corner. Embossed and watercolored with Tombow markers. And then, I became stuck. I stamped "Ohio" with Karen Foster SnapStamps, and then had the brilliant idea (not) to then stamp the word "buckeye" around as a frame, and then connect with a line. Well, after that, I was boxed in a bit, and could do nothing with it. I tried sponging, stippling, and stamping in the inside of the box....nothing worked!

So, this is what the I ended up sending out for Ohio. Sigh. I know it won't be the best...I'm just hoping it won't be the worst.

March Madness

OSU Basketball

Let the games begin! For the next four days, my butt will be plopped in my Laz-E-Boy chair and I'll be watching the games. I absolutely love March Madness. I don't really watch basketball the rest of the year, but I will not miss a second of it during the tournament.

For SCS Inspiration Challenge #66, I made this Ohio State Basketball card. When I looked at the inspiration, those circles reminded me of Buckeyes, so I just went with it. I'm sure by doing this, I have jinxed the team. But, somehow, I doubt I'll feel as bad if/when they lose as I did/still do when the football team had meltdown in the desert two months ago.

Three Tulips

Three Tulips
Originally uploaded by Buckeye.
A quick card that I made after looking through an old issue of the Stamper's Sampler, Feb/March 2004 issue, page 43. Very easy to make. Just stamped tulips with Versamark, and then sponged blue, purple and green dye inks onto the glossy cardstock. Then overstamped the tulips with Adirondack Currant and Whisper Pine Green ink. And that was it. Took about 2 minutes to complete, yet I really like the look of it.

Need cards like this right now. Two acquaintances of mine with what looks to be very aggressive cancers. Feel rather helpless, that making cards is all I can do...and that's not enough.

Purple Tulip

I made this card for a co-worker of mine who had one lousy week, pretty much beyond belief. It involved traveling and getting stranded in a snow storm. It could have very well been me, so I thought I'd let her know that I'm happy she's back safe and sound. Her favorite color is purple, so I really tried to incorporate that color as much as I could. She loves purple so much, she'd probably think a pink, yellow, or red tulip to be offensive.

This was my take on the Inspiration Challenge #65 over on SCS. Rather bright, rather time consuming cutting and masking the flowers...but, an overall fun card to make.

I had originally wanted to make a quiltlike layout, but didn't have the patience for it.

Oh well, someday.

This is a card I made for SCS Sketch #113. I was in the coloring mood, so I grabbed my prismacolor pencils and just had some fun. Layer, after layer, after layer of color.

I intend to send this card to a friend who is recovering from a recent surgery.
